Note From Kendra

Dear Friends,

This year I told myself that I was not to coddle or pace clients that want to create big, bold, beautiful change in their world. What I am committed to is giving you the tools and support to make change happen by literally pointing out where your fear is. I’ll guide you by giving you tools to see your fear in a tangible, living form so that you can make choices to support change quickly.

One of my first teachers that I had for coaching and spiritual direction was Caroline Myss. For three years, I would travel each month to Chicago to be in class with her. At the end of four or five days in class, I would get on the road on Sunday night after saying goodbye to my fellow classmates and travel back to Minnesota. In that three-year period of traveling back from Caroline’s workshops, I collected more speeding tickets than I have ever since. Why do you think that is? Caroline was the one teacher that could shake me up, and I believe that most of her students experienced the same. Within an hour of her workshop, I would be engaged in a love-hate relationship that I had never experienced with anyone else. Caroline cut right to the chase and looked past your personal agenda. She was tough. Coming from a home with a parent who could bully, I was not looking for that in a teacher. I wanted a bit of tenderness, and if I fully disclose, I wanted a bit of coddling – but that would not have served me.

When I left the workshops on those Sunday nights, I was in an altered state. I was grounded and in a physical, emotional, and spiritual place where magic and change could, and did, happen quickly. However, I needed to figure out just as quickly how to integrate back into my reality. Everyone around me became uncomfortable with my “processing” time. So, like most of us do, I went back into old patterns to serve others and ease their discomfort.

What we don’t realize is this:  We need assistance from someone who can see our blind spots and call it like it is. Only with this kind of honesty will we truly end our own suffering.

Caroline is a most trusted, loved, and revered teacher of mine. I use all that I learned and continue to learn from her in my spiritual direction and coaching practice. I understand that suffering is an option. In her most direct way she inspired me to see truth that, at the time, was inconceivable for me to embrace. Caroline empowered me to implement changes that needed to occur.

I no longer subscribe to the school of hard knocks. If there is a skill or behavior I can adopt that supports me in “bringing it on” with more grace and understanding, I leap at signing up. I don’t hesitate because I know how precious time is. Because of my own experience, I am committed to guiding you through your fear and the resistance you have to change. We may even create some full-blown, yet necessary, chaos!

If you don't know what living authentically is about its time to get real. 2017 is the year to make it happen, in numerology we are in 1 year and its about making things happen. So its time to ask yourself,

“What is the one thing that I have been carrying with me that is just too much to bear any longer?”

Then sign up to get clear, direct, and concise guidance AND tools to help you facilitate change! Start here!

With love and great admiration for your bravery,

Archetype

Detective
(Spy, Double Agent, Sleuth, Snoop, Sherlock Holmes, Private Investigator, Profiler- see also Warrior/ Crime Fighter)

Positive characteristics of the Detective include the ability to seek out knowledge and information that supports solving crimes and protecting the public. Detectives combine great powers of observation with highly evolved intuition to deduce the solutions to crimes. Whereas the Detective is public and often highly respected-especially its modern counterpart, the police Profiler-the empowered Spy is associated far more with the surreptitious and often illegal acquisition of secret information regarding politics, business, or national security.  Our attitude toward spies often depends on whose side they’re on. Many Americans see Gary Powers as a heroic figure, while Double Agents such as Robert P. Hansson or British intelligence officer and Soviet spy Kim Philby are considered traitors.

The shadow side of these archetypes can manifest as voyerism, falsifying information, or selling out to the highest bidder. Parents who “spy” on their children with good intentions, such as uncovering their involvement with sex or drugs, are nonetheless flirting with the shadow Detective.

Films: Humphrey Bogart in The Maltese Falcon and The Big Sleep; Richard Burton in The Spy Who Came in from the Cold; Kelly McGillis and Jeff Daniels in The House on Carroll Street; Kathleen Turner in V.I. Warshawski; Laurence Olivier in Sleuth; any James Bond, Sherlock Holmes, or Charlie Chan film.

Fiction: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle; Dashiell Hammett; Agatha Christie; Rex Stout; Tom Clancy; John le Carre.

Television: I Spy; Magnum P.I.

Religion/Myth: Sinon (in Greek lore, a spy who gained the trust of the Trojans by pretending to have deserted the Greeks, then convinced them to take in the wooden horse, leading to their downfall).

Symbology

Contributed by Anne Barton.

"It seems odd now, after being a contributor for years to this newsletter and learning each month about the archetypes from Kendra, that it took me so long to actually do my Chart of Origin with her. I trust that everything happens when it should and having A Day with Your Destiny experience with Kendra this past week couldn't have been more perfectly timed. Beyond my belief in the value of knowing your own personal archetypes and how they have contributed to the patterns in your life, I want to express how truly powerful it is to do this process with Kendra personally. Her knowledge of the archetypes and their unique characteristics was invaluable to my process of choosing this deeply meaningful and profound support team.
The interview process for choosing my archetypes would have been so arduous had I done it alone. Kendra cut to the heart of the process, kept me aligned and on track, and the Chart of Origin I now have feels like home. It has served me - I can see the patterns clearly and embrace them - and it will continue to support me on my life journey. I can't recommend this process more highly. The intense focus of doing your chart in a single day, and then having a reading to solidify and enhance your team of archetypes, is life affirming. The added bonus of having Kendra on your team and by your side is priceless."

This Is How Many Women Were Diagnosed With Some Form of Breast Cancer in 2016

Recently a dear friend of mine called to tell me she was diagnosed with breast cancer and I found myself completely at a loss for words. When she asked me if I would go with her to her first appointment to speak to her surgeon I didn’t hesitate. As we sat there listening to the doctor I found myself thinking “This only happens to other people not my friend” as if it wasn’t happening in real time. Surreal is a good word to be honest. I know it sounds as if I was thinking maybe my friends and perhaps even myself are untouchable but you know what? That must be exactly what I thought because I was as dumbfounded as could be listening to the survival rates of breast cancer patients. SURVIVAL RATE? She left her body and I went numb for a moment. I do not wish this upon any woman nor her friends or family members to have to sit in a doctor’s office and listen to what the survival or re-occurrence rate is with breast cancer over a 10 or 20-year span.

So with great encouragement I ask you to take 3 minutes to read what you can do to reduce your risk of developing this disease
here. To be frank, I felt like I had been living under a rock when the doctor mentioned some of the things that can contribute to your risk. So please take a moment to read and then forward this link to everyone you know. Thank you.
