From Our Schools

North High is proud to announce German Echevarria as the new school principal. German is a life-long educator who believes that public education and urban schools are exciting and rewarding environments. His focus has always been on underserved populations and creating strong and inclusive cultures for students and for staff.

German is a first-generation, bilingual Puerto Rican graduate of the University of California at Irvine where he competed in NCAA Division 1 Cross-Country and Track & Field. He taught 3 years in Los Angeles before moving to Colorado. He is a North Denver resident of over 20 years. German has worked in Denver Public Schools as an Elementary School teacher, a High School teacher, and then an Assistant Principal. He was most recently the principal of Sheridan High School. German’s wife, Jamie, is a clinical social worker and family therapist, their daughter is a sophomore at North and their son is a 7th grader at Skinner Middle School.
