The owners of this lovely Congress Park Bungalow wanted to update their kitchen and main level with modern conveniences and a contemporary design. By opening the surrounding walls, the kitchen is re-designed into an expansive, open space with an eat-in area and wetbar.
BEFORE: This view from the kitchen to the dining room shows the full wall which was made into a pony wall, opening up the room and stairway to the basement. The refigerator and double ovens were placed on the west wall allowing for additional counter space in the rest of the kitchen.
Previously a small mudroom entrance from the backyard, this space was transformed into an extension of the kitchen to include an eat-in area and a wetbar with beautiful cabinetry. The Dutch door adds charm to this contemporary space.
BEFORE: The kitchen was enclosed and out of character with the style of the house.
The homeowners never imagined they would gain so much space without adding any square footage. They are thrilled with the results of their modern kitchen and the updates in the rest of their home.
