 1199 SEIU Health Care Workers East becomes the latest U.S. union to say no to the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline.  Press release here.  The 450,000 member union joins health unions National Nurses United and New York State Nurses Association and transport unions in opposing the project. 
Caracas Climate Meeting
Belgian trade unionist Bert de Wel reports on the "Social pre-COP" climate meeting in Caracas, Venezuela, where 200 civil society groups discussed energy, agriculture, health, and participatory democracy in the context of climate change and the need for a new approach to sustainable consumption - "buen vivir."
Don't Frack UK, says UNITE
At a recent policy conference in Liverpool, UK's largest union came out decisively against fracking and urged a national moratorium.  Unite the Union representes 1.4 million workers, and more than 30,000 in the energy sector.
