5,638 Canada geese killed in New York City - Take action now!

This week we received USDA's summary of Canada geese killed in NYC parks since 2009. USDA Wildlife Services has killed 3,658 geese in NYC parks over the past 5 summers, the total number for NYC is approximately 5,638 when including Canada geese slaughtered at Jamaica Bay "Wildlife Refuge" and on airport properties.

Since the killing of Canada geese in NYC parks began nearly 5 years ago, the number of bird strikes involving geese remains virtually unchanged. Despite this, USDA defends the killing and recommends continuing its lethal wildlife management program.
We need your help! Three ways you can take action now:
  1. Get involved! RSVP to attend our volunteer organizing and strategy meeting next week in Brooklyn, April 19 from 2-4pm - RSVP and Details Here
  2. Sign our new petition calling for an end to USDA Wildlife Services killing of NYC's Canada geese and other wildlife - Sign Here!
  3. Support our work and help get the word out by purchasing a GooseWatch NYC tee shirt or hat - Purchase Merchandise and Donate Here
Millions of tax dollars have been wasted on this ineffective program. It's time to stop depriving life to NYC's Canada geese and other wildlife, and denying New Yorkers the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate our shared existence in this city.
GooseWatch NYC will continue working with aviation and wildlife experts as well as animal advocates with the hope of leading NYC to more humane and more effective ways of managing conflicts with wildlife, and restoring our parks and public spaces to places that geese and other wild animals in our midst can exist peacefully. We need your help!
