Hormones and Holidays

Hi Love,

I hope you are enjoying your holidays! 2014 is almost here and I am super excited to meet it in the snowy mountains of Utah. For years I was dreaming of coming back to my roots and celebrating New Years surrounded by the snow, friends, and magic. This year I feel like I am in a fairy tale. I can spend all day snowboarding, playing in the snow, and cuddling with my love.

I wish you to expand into joy, abundance, and happiness in the new year. I wish you health, balance, and clarity. I will do my best to support you in this!

Before the year's end I wanted to make sure that you didn't miss the amazing giveaway from Flo Living team. Flo Living is an online program that helps women to understand their hormones and to balance them. We are giving away a spot in the program for one lucky woman.

I am very passionate about empowering women to take charge of their hormones because I know how frustrating it can be to suffer every month. Many have grown to believe that it is normal to have PMS, to have irresistible cravings, to be tired and cranky, to have cramps. It is not! You, each one of you, deserve to know how to take care of your body to help her thrive every single day of the month.

Five years ago I went off the pill after being 12 years on it. My body has forgotten how to regulate my cycle and I didn’t have my period for 9 months. My doctor wanted to put me back on the pill and to make things even more interesting I was diagnosed with Polycystic ovarian syndrome. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disorder of uncertain etiology. It is thought to be one of the leading causes of female subfertility, resulting in irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, ovulation-related infertility; excessive amounts or effects of androgenic (masculinizing) hormones, resulting in acne and hirsutism; and insulin resistance, often associated with obesity, Type 2 diabetes, and high cholesterol levels. Fun, ah?

For a year I was trying to get my periods back with Ayurveda, acupuncture, herbs, diet, and other alternative methods. I also did a lot of meditation and self-exploration to understand where the issue was stemming from. Our body holds the answers we just need to take time daily to listen and one day the answer will be very clear. It took time but my periods became regular, cysts disappeared, I don't remember what cramps feel like, and my energy is high throughout the entire month. If you are struggling with understanding your hormones right now, please don't lose faith. Your body can heal if you only help it.

With Love,

Nadya
