A significant point in time will occur in Clearwater in 2017--the 150th Anniversary of the Historic Chisholm Trail. Clearwater is one of only a few towns in Kansas whose origin resulted because of the trail.

There will be several events next year to honor our early settlers and to celebrate the significance of the trail for Clearwater. A one-day celebration will be held to re-visit the early 1870 time period. Planning efforts will soon begin in Clearwater and your innovative ideas for planning fun events are needed. Please contact the Clearwater Chamber by calling 584.3366 to leave a message relating your interest. Also, please like the Clearwater Chisholm Trail 150 facebook page for further details.

Bulky Waste Coupon

The most popular coupon ever, Sedwick County has released its bulky waste coupon for 2016. (aka dump coupon.)
As of July 6, 2016, Sedgwick County is once again offering residents a coupon for free disposal of bulky waste up to 1,000 pounds. (Loads exceeding this limit are accepted, but will be subject to fees.) You have to haul it, but with the coupon there will be no charge for disposing of it.
An online request form is available by clicking here. Residents must be prepared to present their name and address online or over the phone. Last year the coupons were mailed within one week of request.

Only residents of Sedgwick County are eligible for the coupons and must be prepared to haul the trash. Bulky waste includes furniture, mattresses, appliances, electronics and other items that haulers aren’t able to pick up, but NOT tires, items with Freon or hazardous materials. Businesses are not eligible.

Message from Mayor Ussery

Clearwater Begins a Strategic Planning Process

For the Governing Body (Mayor and Council), one of the most important challenges we face each year as we put together the budget is having that “forward looking” plan that we focus on. Over the past three years we have worked at looking at those factors that will impact Clearwater in the next 5 to 10 years so we can make the best decisions possible based on all the fact we have.

What I have learned is we have several pockets of individuals who have a passion for our future, be that growth, development, down town renovation, sports and recreation….. We also have the basics of city infrastructure (streets, water, safety, Police, Fire, EMS, waste water, etc.), that we must plan for and keep at the forefront. Read more.
