July Newsletter #1
Clearwater Communications

The Clearwater Communications Committee is made up of 5 members of the Clearwater community who have come together to make communication better in our town. We have made it our mission to make sure that information is sent out to residents in a timely manner. If you have information that you would like to have shared please email us at news.clearwater@gmail.com. All Newsletters will be sent out around the 1st & 3rd Mondays of the month. Please have all information in as soon as possible to avoid missing the deadline. Since the Communications Committee is now a part of the Chamber of Commerce you will no longer receive a Chamber Newsletter. This will take its place. You may still email Chamber questions to chamber@sktc.net

Clearwater's 1st Annual Tribal Dash

Attention: All Clearwater Youth Football and Cheer parents and friends. The Board of Directors of the Clearwater Youth Football Association has approved a Fundraising opportunity that we hope will eliminate the need for our kids to go door to door selling fundraising items.  Let me be clear about one thing, this fundraiser will be counted towards the 2014 season.  This means you are still required to sell the trash bags this year. In order to pull off this new fundraising idea we need all of your help and support.  Here is what we have planned:
Date: Saturday, August 3rd, 2013
Time: 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 ish p.m.
Where: Clearwater Elementary West, football practice fields, High School, City Park and Downtown Clearwater
Event Name: Tribal Dash
Details:  approximately 3.2 mile obstacle course race (for examples, look @
www.spartanrace.com www.warriordash.com ) see attached course layout and description. We will need help spreading the word, obtaining sponsors, setting up the course( the week leading up to), registration, marking the course, finish line, beer and I.D. checkers, etc. It is our belief this fundraiser could raise enough funds to eliminate the door-to-door sales and quite possibly lower the registration fee. PLEASE HELP US GET THE WORD OUT, WE WANT 1,000 RUNNERS. On Tuesday, July 9th we will have a meeting at the Clearwater Middle School at 7:00 p.m.  At that time we will have various stations (i.e. registration, set up, tear down, finish line, etc)  If you have a specific area you would like to volunteer, please attend on Tuesday, July 9th to sign up for your spot.  We will do our best to accommodate you.  In addition, we plan on using all of the youth football and cheerleaders to line the course as human directional signs.  Sometime early next week we will send out a list of items and quantities of items that we will need.  Donations are appreciated, however, we have a budget to purchase some items. We do have various sponsorship levels.  If you or anybody you know is interested in sponsoring the event please contact me, Casey Carlson at 316-650-3646 or ccarlson@halsteadbank.com
Also for those interested in participating, please visit the website at www.tribalcourse.com  For anybody wishing to donate items for the course, please contact me as well. We hope to make this an annual event.  Please help us do so.  Let me know if you have any questions.
