It is time for the Clearwater Chamber of Commerce monthly coffee social. This month we will be meeting at the Clearwater Village on Thursday, May 8th, at 9:30 am. Join us in the conversation about what is happening with the Chamber. 

Family Fun & Fitness Night

The 8th Annual Family Fun & Fitness night will be Friday, May 9th, from 5:00-6:30pm at the Clearwater Intermediate Center. Free prizes to be given away you won't want to miss this fun event! Most activities geared toward K-6. Don't forget to wear your tennis shoes, so you can participate in this year's FUN RUN! 

Local Barber receives Membership Certificate

Ernest Gordon Post #93 member Richard "Dick" Reynolds was honored with a 50 year continuous membership certificate by the American Legion National Commander Daniel M. Dellinger. The certificate was presented at a luncheon honoring this outstanding achievement by local Post Commander Robert Pugh. Congratulations Dick! 

All You Can Eat

The entire community is invited to the Clearwater Senior Community Center for the monthly All You Can Eat Biscuits & Gravy event. It will be held on Saturday, May 17th, from 7:00 am to 10:00 am. Cost is $4 for adults, and $2 for children. Come out and enjoy some good food with friends and help support the Community Center as well.

Sign-ups open.

Lessons are $30 for each class and student (or $20 with a $10 Clearwater Recreation Commission Coupon for students within the Clearwater school district). Signups for lessons began on May 1st at City Hall.  
Daily lessons are 45 minutes long, Monday through Friday, for two weeks. Tiny Tots classes are for children age 3 and 4, with an adult. Other classes range from Level I to Level VI. Morning lessons typically start at 9, 10, or 11 a.m. The evening lessons typically start at 6 p.m. All classes must have a minimum of 10 enrolled for the class to be held. If the City has to cancel your class because there are not enough students, you will have a choice to move to another class, or to receive a refund.

Join us for songs, rhymes, finger plays, and crafts. Designed for ages 2-5; however, all ages are welcome.

Scrabble Fun - Tuesday, May 20 @ 10:30 am
Bring a friend and a Scrabble game if you have one and enjoy the laughter and fun with friends.

Clearwater Schools New Superintendent

Clearwater had four excellent finalists in the search for a new superintendent.  After careful thought and consideration, the board has offered the position to Dr. Diane Gross, current superintendent of Fort Scott USD 234. Dr. Gross has accepted the position and will officially begin her duties as superintendent of Clearwater USD 264 on July 1, 2014.

24 hour Softball Tournament

Jimmy Shipman is a local Clearwater resident who has recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma at the young age of 27. Friends and family will be holding a 24 hour Co-ed Softball Tournament to raise money for his treatment. This will take place on Saturday, May 17th, at 12pm through Sunday May 18th. This event will take place at the Clearwater Softball Fields. There will be competitive games, and prizes throughout the day.
