The Creation Grant seeks to support artists in creating or redeveloping existing content to produce Performing, Visual, Literary, Digital or Multi-Disciplinary arts projects that will both expand the canon of Singapore works, and appeal to both Singaporean and international audiences. Singapore's oldest performing arts centres will return this year with a state-of-the-art mid-sized theatre and concert hall much needed in Singapore's growing arts landscape. Boasting a total gross floor area of approximately 13,800 square metres, or the equivalent of two Olympic soccer fields, the Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall will also feature music and dance/theatre rehearsal rooms, and F&B outlets. Audiences can expect a range of pre-opening events and activities at these new venues from August 2014 onwards, in the lead up to the official opening in 2015.

Words Go Round, a school programme under the Singapore Writers Festival, presents two FREE sessions for children aged 4 – 9 years old. Head down to The Little Arts Academy for a magical time with picture books and finger puppets, with Taiwanese children's author Fang Su-Chen on 8 March 2014 at 3pm. Or have an afternoon of storytelling fun with Rosemarie Somaiah, who will bring traditional local tales to life on 15 March 2014 at 3pm (both pictured left). Calling all artists and arts groups: Apply to offer your arts programmes to schools for the 2015/16 cycle of the NAC Arts Education Programme (NAC-AEP). Supported by the Tote Board Arts Grant, the NAC-AEP provides opportunities for arts engagement for students from primary schools to ITEs through subsidised arts programmes spanning Dance, Music, Theatre, Visual Art, Literary Arts, Film and Multimedia.

The 8th National Indian Music Competition will take place from 16 to 22 June 2014 at the School of the Arts Drama Theatre. Participants of the competition will stand to win trophies and certificates with total cash prizes amounting to $63,200.

The competition is open to all Singaporeans and Permanent Residents under the age of 30. Participants may take part in any of the 8 solo categories: Carnatic Vocal, Hindustani Vocal, Violin, Veena, Sitar, Flute, Mridangam and Tabla.

Graduation showcase at the 2012 Malay Music Enrichment Course
The Malay Music Enrichment Course is now open for registration. It will take place from 3 March to 6 June 2014 at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music. An initiative of the Malay Music Development Committee (MMDC) and organised in partnership with the Association of Malay Singers, Composers & Professional Musicians (PERKAMUS), this course aims to build critical skills for Malay music practitioners. Through the programme, participants will develop musicianship skills and concepts, and acquire a good working knowledge of traditional Malay music.
