New Submissions
DCN-284: Clark_PNAS_20211007, a biomedical engineering code (Python) dataset, was submitted by Sarah Wright for Cornell and curated by Jordan Wrigley for Colorado.
DCN-285: Raw Data_Variation in contact chemical cues mediates differential predator response in the color polymorphic tortoise beetle, Chelymorpha alternans, a biology scientific image dataset, was submitted by Hoa Luong for Illinois and will be curated by Mariah Kenney for Dryad.
DCN-286: A 3D Physics-based Particle Model of the Venus Oxygen Corona (Tenishev_A3D_m900nt75j), a climate science simulation dataset, was submitted by Rachel Woodbrook for Michigan and curated by Jon Petters for Virginia Tech.
Resolved Datasets
DCN-257: Data From: Evidence-Based Message Strategies to Increase Public Support for State Investment in Early Childhood Education: Results from a Longitudinal Panel Experiment, a communications R code dataset, was submitted by Sarah Wright for Cornell and curated by Marley Kalt for Johns Hopkins. Marley found a few encoding errors in the code and made recommendations for correcting those errors. She also recommended that the R version and any additional packages needed to run the code be added to the documentation and finally that a codebook or a link to the survey instrument be shared to identify the variables and explain any missing values.
DCN-280: 1D SAXS indexing macro for Igor Pro, a materials science and engineering code dataset, was submitted by Wanda Marsolek for Minnesota and curated by Seth Erickson for Penn State. Seth’s recommendations for this dataset included: updating the readme with software version information, including a link to the code repository in the readme (if the code will be updated), consideration of an alternative license and including a data sample for demonstrating the code. Wanda reports that based on Seth’s expertise major curation actions were taken including updating the documentation and including a sample dataset as recommended.
DCN-281: Wigner-Seitz Cell generation and calculations in MATLAB, a materials science and engineering code (MATLAB) dataset, was submitted by Wanda Marsolek for Minnesota and curated by Susan Borda for Michigan. Susan found the quality of this dataset and code to be satisfactory and had no recommendations for improvement. Wanda reports that major curation actions were taken, including linking related datasets and updating the license.
DCN-282: Unbiased inference of the fitness landscape ruggedness from imprecise fitness estimates, an ecology and evolutionary biology simulation dataset, was submitted by Rachel Woodbrook for Michigan and curated by Jordan Wrigley for the University of Colorado. Jordan recommended that the data author add comments throughout the code to make it more usable. She also recommended that the dataset’s documentation be updated to include more information about the code (environment, distribution, version) to make it more reusable. Rachel reported that all of Jordan's recommendations were accepted and acted upon.
DCN-283: Femtosecond stimulated Raman spectroscopy – guided library mining leads to efficient singlet fission in rubrene derivatives, a chemistry and scientific image dataset, was submitted by Katie Barrick for Minnesota and curated by Xuying Xin for Penn State. Xuying’s recommendations included adding documentation with information about related publications and software needed to open the data files, adding descriptions of the files and how they relate to one another and better organizing and possibly renaming the files for better user comprehension. Katie reports that due to Xuying’s expertise, major curation actions were taken. The researcher provided a comprehensive Readme file and the metadata record for the dataset was updated to include, among other things, a citation for the associated manuscript.
