Monthly Reporting

New Submissions

DCN-287: Dataset for "Estuaries as filters for riverine microplastics: Simulations in a large, coastal-plain estuary", an oceanographic code (Java) dataset, was submitted by Xuying Xin for Penn State and curated by Reina Murray for Johns Hopkins.

DCN-288: Batch-Mask: An automated Mask R-CNN workflow to isolate non-standard biological specimens for color pattern analysis, an ecology and evolutionary biology neural network dataset, was submitted by Rachel Woodbrook for Michigan and curated by Wanda Marsolek for Minnesota.

DCN-289: The AI Economist: Taxation Policy Design via Two-Level Deep Reinforcement Learning was submitted by Mariah Kenney for Dryad and curated by Adi Ranganath for CU Boulder.

DCN-290: Terrestrial gastropod collection data was submitted by Lisa Johnston for Minnesota and curated by Chen Chiu for John Hopkins.

DCN-291: Embedded dataset in Poincare Balls was submitted by Hoa Luong for Illinois and curated by Melinda Kernik for Minnesota.

DCN-292: A climate-driven epidemiological model for fungal diseases in fruit orchards was submitted by Xuying Xin for Penn State and curated by Katie Barrick for Minnesota.el Woodbrook for Michigan and curated by Jon Petters for Virginia Tech.

Resolved Datasets

DCN-189: Stress Changes on the Garlock fault During and After the 2019 Ridgecrest Earthquake Sequence (Ramos_StressChanges_fq977t972) was submitted by Rachel Woodbrook for Michigan and curated by Debra Fagan for Dryad. Rachel closed the dataset and reported no curation activities were taken because the author did not respond.

DCN-232: Chemical Imaging of Retinal Pigment Epithelium in Frozen Sections of Zebrafish Larvae Using ToF-SIMS, a genomics scientific image dataset, was submitted by Hannah Hadley for Penn State and curated by Katie Barrick for Minnesota. Katie recommended the depositor include documentation with the dataset including details about the computing environment (operating system and software version) as well as information about how to open and view the image files. Xuying Xin closed this dataset and reported that no curation actions were taken by the depositor.

DCN-238: IFSM raw data for eight dairy farms, an agricultural tabular dataset, was submitted by Xuying Xin for Penn State and curated by Jennifer Darragh for Duke University. Jen recommended that the depositor provide documentation about the data including an overview of the files, their purpose, explanations of naming conventions, table headers and units of measure. Xuying reported that the dataset was published with no additional curation actions taken as a result of Jen’s expertise because the depositor never responded.

DCN-264: Dataset on Temperate and chronic virus competition was submitted by Hoa Luong for Illinois and curated by Chen Chiu for John Hopkins. Chen reported that the code runs fine, the documentation is good, and the instruction about how to run each script is clear. The only suggestion is to write the condition into if-else statement instead of using comment/uncomment to control the flow. Hoa reported that minimal curation activities were taken by the data curators, because the depositor never responded.

DCN-266: Data associated with the publication: Predicting Plastic Events and Quantifying the Local Yield Surface in 3D Model Glasses, a materials science and engineering simulation dataset, was submitted by Chen Chiu for Johns Hopkins and curated by Seth Erickson for Penn State. Seth’s recommendations for the depositor included: adding additional files (code and scripts) to facilitate reproducibility, adding documentation at the top-level that would provide an overview of the dataset, workflow for generating and using the files and information about the code version and coding environment. Chen reported that the depositor responded, but did not make any of the recommended changes.

DCN-275: An integrated multi-wavelength microscope combining TIRFM and IRM modalities for imaging cellulases and other processive enzymes, a biochemistry code (MATLAB) and scientific image dataset, was submitted by Hannah Hadley for Penn State and curated by Katie Barrick for Minnesota. Katie reported that she was able to run the scripts without errors but recommended that the depositor provide documentation including information about the computing environment (OS and MATLAB versions). Xuying Xin recently closed this ticket reporting that no curation actions were taken.

DCN-286: A 3D Physics-based Particle Model of the Venus Oxygen Corona (Tenishev_A3D_m900nt75j) was submitted by Rachel Woodbrook for Michigan and curated by Jon Petters for Virginia Tech. Jon identified that a key way to improve this dataset would be to improve documentation. Rachel closed the ticket, reporting that minimal curation activities were taken, namely improving documentation.

Reina ran the accompanying code and recommended improving the dataset through updating the README file and creating a codebook for the data. Xuying closed the ticket and reported that minimal curation activities were taken.

DCN-289: The AI Economist: Taxation Policy Design via Two-Level Deep Reinforcement Learning was submitted by Mariah Kenney for Dryad and curated by Adi Ranganath for CU Boulder. Adi reported that the data looked mostly good, but could be improved by removing .DS_Store files and enhancing descriptive information. Mariah reported that these minimal activities were accepted and could be implemented without the researcher.

DCN-292: A climate-driven epidemiological model for fungal diseases in fruit orchards was submitted by Xuying Xin for Penn State and curated by Katie Barrick for Minnesota. Katie reported that all of the files opened with error and the code processed, and suggested improving the metadata record by including information from the ReadMe file. Xuying made those minor changes and closed the ticket.
