STAQ News - Science Contest a success!

Queensland Science Contest winners and runners-up will be receiving their results over the September Holidays. It is sure to be an exciting Awards Ceremony on Saturday 19th October! Senior Science Conference 

Be quick to book your spot at the earlybird rate for this jam-packed conference. It is being held at QUT on Saturday 30th November from 8.30-4pm. Our 2 keynote speakers are confirmed as: John Cook who created and maintains skepticalscience.com, a website that examines the arguments of global warming skepticism. Also, we will hear from Ian O'Hara who is the Principal Research Scientist in the Centre for Tropical Crops and Biocommodities researching biofuels, biomass utilization and bioenergy. Book now!

ASTA Science Assist

ASTA has an exciting opportunity to contribute your skills and expertise to an innovative science education initiative! The Science ASSIST project is currently seeking applications from experienced teachers of science and school laboratory technicians to form two expert groups. These groups will develop resources initially and use their expertise to help provide advice to clients when the online advisory service goes live in 2014. Applications close 5pm, 10 October 2013

Stem Cell Revolutions

Stem Cells Australia, together with the Australasia Society for Stem Cell Research and the National Stem Cell Foundation of Australia, will be hosting an educational event at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Tuesday 29 October. High school students and their teachers are invited to attend a special screening (between 10am and 2pm) of the award-winning documentary Stem Cell Revolutions which will take the students on a journey from the earliest experiments that first revealed stem cells in the body, to the latest scientific and clinical development. see more
