The Grand High Priest, M∴E∴ Brian D. Singer represented our Grand Chapter of the State of New York, Royal Arch Masons at the 3rd Annual Battle Within Memorial Ceremony on Memorial Day. This Memorial Service was held at the Buffalo/Niagara Naval Yard and is in memory of all the Veterans who have passed away suffering from the wounds of war that many cannot see, such as suicide and PTSD.

The Battle Within Foundation, which is founded by the Brethren Harmonie Lodge No. 699, ‘OM’ in the Erie County Masonic District continues to support Veterans suffering from PTSD. The event was attended by well over 300 people from both the Masonic and local Community at large. Others in attendance were the Right Worshipful Richard J. Kessler, Deputy Grand Master and the Grand Line of the Grand Lodge of New York, Michael Jordan, State Master Councilor of NY Demolay, and members from the Order of the Triangle. A wonderful event to remember those that gave us their all so that we may be free.

2ND CAPITULAR DISTRICT
Greetings Companions,

On May 10th I made my Official Visit to Nassau Chapter No. 109.  The Convocation was attended by nine Companions of the Chapter.  I read the Message of the Grand High Priest the M∴E∴ Brian D. Singer.  After reading the message I asked if any of the Companions had any questions or comments.  Nassau Chapter is committed to ritual, education & fundraising for Royal Arch Charities.  I look forward to working with the Companions of this Chapter during my term as District Deputy Grand High Priest.

The Multi District Degree Festival is still being planned.  The Festival will be at Camp Pouch in Staten Island (on either August 7th or 14th).  The cost will be $25 per person which includes breakfast & lunch.  I urge all the Companions of the Second Capitular District to speak to the Brethren of their respective Lodges about Royal Arch Masonry.  This is a great opportunity for us to increase the membership of the Chapters in our District.
The Education Chairman of the District, E∴ James Gregg is conducting the Capstone Course during the months of June & July.  The course will be held on Zoom & all the Kings & Scribes of the Chapters in the District have been invited to attend these sessions.

On June 7th I will be making my Official Visit to Tyrian Chapter No. 219 & on June 14th the Regional Officer the R∴E∴ Larry Barnard will have a District Meeting at Nassau Chapter No. 109.  I look forward to seeing the Companions of the District at these Convocations.

Masonically. meetings typically dwindle after June and resume in September. With the COVID crisis still looming, some Chapters may still not be meeting in-person on a regular basis. For those that are, I remind you to follow the current protocols. For those that are not, I suggest virtual meetings until you are ready.

I held 3 out of 4 Official Visits for the 12th Capitular District in April & May with only Lake Ontario Chapter to be held on Thursday, June 10th at 7:30 PM. I will arrive by 7:00 PM to do the examination of the books as per OV protocol and I look forward to seeing everyone in Oswego.

As new information is sent out from Grand Chapter, I send it along to the Chapter High Priests and Secretaries. If you, as a Companion of any Chapter in our District are not getting emails from your Chapter, please contact your Secretary and ask why. Communication is extremely important at any time but especially now in our current situation. Please stay in touch.

Central City Riverside will be celebrating 200 years in July. Keep an eye out for information from them on their Celebration and attend if you can.

Hands Across the Border usually happens in October with our Canadian Companions. I know the Oswego Companions have hopes that this may still happen this year but that will depend upon whether the border opens. Watch out for news as it develops.

Companions, prep yourself this summer to return to Chapter in September. Review your Ritual so that your first opening & closing will go smoothly. Charles H. Platt Chapter hopes to resume Degrees this Fall. They have several waiting on the Holy Royal Arch Degree and others waiting to start. Good luck to them.

Have a safe summer. Get vaccinated if you haven't already and remember to still wear your mask.

See you in September...

R∴E∴ Richard J. Powell                                                                 District Deputy Grand High Priest,                                                   12th Capitular District                                     rjpowell@arsmasonica.com
Greetings Companions of the 12th Capitular District,

I hope this communication finds everyone doing well, and your Chapters moving forward toward regular meetings.

We have completed three Official visits by this time, and we are hopeful that more visits to your Chapters will be happening regularly. Our District is blessed with having two celebrations of milestone anniversaries, Charles H. Platt having celebrated their 150th Anniversary and Rededication, and June will see Central City Riverside celebrating 200 years. That is quite an achievement, and we congratulate our Companions in these Chapters for their decades of service and devotion to Royal Arch Masonry.

Our District will be holding our Royal Arch Masons Grand Lecturer’s Convention on October 26th at Central City Riverside Chapter in Liverpool. More details on this event will come as we firm up plans while watching what restrictions from Grand Lodge we will be under.

A means of assistance in memorization is to rehearse your parts while including whatever motions you might make to emphasize your ritual work. Planning movements and motions, placement in the Tabernacle, as well as how you recite your parts all assist in providing memory aids. Doing your part consistently with similar motions gives your brain another hold on the words that you are reciting. Even practicing at home, whenever possible, using motions during your recitation will help make the two parts into a sort of muscle memory. If you are practicing in a place where you cannot make the motions, you can at least visualize making them so they become entwined together. Actors frequently practice on stage moving to their spots or make motions while they are memorizing their lines. Many feel this helps them in learning the whole performance faster.

Wishing you a wonderful Spring and soon Summer season, with renewed Zeal for our Chapters.

With Fervency and Zeal,
V∴E∴ Jim Nelson

Greetings Companions,

I hope this article finds everyone and there love ones well. My wife Jackolyn and myself are doing fine and have started to get out to dinner and visit some. By having our shots we are a little more secure with being around other people.

June 10th. will be an in person Official Visit for our R.A.M. Chapter in over a year. Please mark that date on your calendar and try to attend. Lets be ready to give our D.D.G.H. P. R∴E∴ Richard Powell a big welcoming as he has waited a long time for this meeting.

Once Charles Platt Chapter 247 finalizes their Holy Royal Arch Degree on their Trestleboard, we will be traveling to Skaneateles to participate. We have one Candidate that will be taking the degree that's waited a long time to be exalted due to the pandemic.

For the Companions that haven't paid this years dues please start sending them to our P.O. Box 1027 Oswego N.Y. 13126 address, as our secretary has moved out of town. This will help them from getting lost in mail.

This will be the last word article till September, so stay well and safe and enjoy the summer months. Looking forward to seeing everyone in person.

Lake Ontario Chapter No. 165

Greetings Companions,

Warm thoughts for the weather and for our continuing celebration of over 150 years of being a Chapter in Royal Arch Masonry. I hope this finds everyone doing well.

We had a wonderful celebration of our 150 years on May 15th, that along with a rededication ceremony for our Chapter was well attended, as we look forward to the start of the next 50 years of service. A special thanks needs to be given to E∴ Richard Torrey for his tireless work on putting the celebration and rededication together, without his efforts and hard work it would not have been the success that it was.

We have postponed the Holy Royal Arch degree to September, as due to circumstances beyond our control too many parts were affected to be able to put on the Degree as originally planned for May. I will look to hold a couple of practices through the summer to ensure we are ready to welcome Companions into our Chapter.

Flag Day, also called National Flag Day, in the United States, a day honoring the national flag, observed on June 14. The holiday commemorates the date in 1777 when the United States approved the design for its first national flag. Flag Day is celebrated on Monday, June 14, 2021 in the United States.

The idea to set aside a day to honor the national flag came from several sources. Bernard J. Cigrand, a Wisconsin schoolteacher, in 1885 urged his students to observe June 14 as “Flag Birthday.” He later wrote an essay published in a Chicago newspaper that urged Americans to proclaim this date as the day to celebrate the flag. In 1888 William T. Kerr of Pennsylvania founded the American Flag Day Association of Western Pennsylvania, an organization to which he dedicated his life. A lesser-known claim is that of George Morris of Connecticut, who is said to have organized the first formal celebration of the day in Hartford in 1861.

In 1916 President, Woodrow Wilson proclaimed June 14 as the official date for Flag Day, and in 1949 the U.S. Congress permanently established the date as National Flag Day. Although Flag Day is not an official federal holiday, Pennsylvania celebrates the day as a state holiday. Each year the U.S. president delivers an address that proclaims the week of June 14 as National Flag Week, and all Americans are encouraged to fly U.S. flags during that week.
