Online Memorial Page

Losing a member of our church family is always difficult, but during the current pandemic and time of separation it has become harder to share our grief, share stories and celebrate life as a church community.
We have created an online memorial board and we invite everyone to please share your memories, stories and/or photos of church members who have passed.

Click HERE to go to the online memorial board

We hope this online memorial board will help bring us together as a community and not only share our grief, but help celebrate the life of the members who have been a vital part of the GVUMC community.

Please Keep In Your Prayers

We sadly received the news today that GVUMC attendee Jules Carralero passed away. Please keep his wife Erlinda and their family in your prayers.

September Blood Drive

GVUMC is sponsoring a Red Cross blood drive on Friday, September 25, 1:00 - 6:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall.

There is a constant need for a regular blood supply because blood can be stored for only a limited time for use. All of the blood donated is sent to local hospitals. Blood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person - the gift of life.

To schedule an appointment,
go online to RedCrossBlood.org and enter the Sponsor Code: GVUnitedMethodistHenderson

or call Lynn Dunn at 702-435-1662.
Her phone number is also in the church directory.

Restoring Relationships

What do you do when someone has offended you or speaks falsely against you? Do you ignore it? Let it fester within? Or do you tell a friend about how that person hurt your feelings?
Our gospel reading for Sunday shows us a better way to handle offenses. Matthew 18:15-20 is sometimes called the Rule of Christ for the Church. From the beginning of time God has been extending Love to all and desires that we too extend love to one another. When the flow of love is broken, Jesus guides us how to bring reconciliation.
Let's hear what the Spirit is saying to us this Sunday in Worship. We will also be celebrating Holy Communion. Choose your bread and wine/juice or even water so we can celebrate together God's love for us through Jesus Christ.

THIRD GRADE BIBLE SUNDAY IS COMING!

Third grade Bible Sunday is September 13!
If you have a child entering third grade this fall, please email Karin Salzman at kidmin@gvumc.org and give her their name so that we can make sure we have a Bible for them on Sunday, September 13th.

This is a special way we recognize these children and invite them to take a more active role in their faith.  Please let Karin know no later than Monday September 7.

This Weeks Scripture Verse

Matthew 18:15-20

“If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have regained that one. But if you are not listened to, take one or two others along with you, so that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If the member refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if the offender refuses to listen even to the church, let such a one be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, truly I tell you, if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.”
