Created for Connection, Community and Relationship
World Communion Sunday!
This Week's Scripture Verse
Jame 1:16-21 The Message
Some Pharisees came, and to test him they asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?”
He answered them, “What did Moses command you?”
They said, “Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of dismissal and to divorce her.”
But Jesus said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart he wrote this commandment for you.
But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’
‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh.
Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
Then in the house the disciples asked him again about this matter.
He said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her; and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”
People were bringing little children to him in order that he might touch them;
and the disciples spoke sternly to them. But when Jesus saw this,
he was indignant and said to them, “Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.
Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.”
And he took them up in his arms, laid his hands on them, and blessed them.

October Communion Offering
United Methodist Churches observe World Communion Sunday on the first Sunday in October.
On World Communion Sunday, we experience and celebrate the connection of the body of Christ when our offering joins with the gifts of other United Methodists around the globe.
This offering supports a diverse mix of national and international ethnic young adults to make a global impact for Christ. Half of the offering benefits World Communion Scholarships for graduate students from the U.S. and other countries; the remainder assists Ethnic Scholarships for U.S. and international undergraduates studying in the U.S. and Ethnic In-Service Training.
Please watch this above video for more information on the impact the World Communion Sunday offering can have around the world!
Please consider giving to the Communion offering on World Communion Sunday.

We are bringing back our annual Trunk or Treat event!
Saturday, October 30th from 5:00pm to 6:30pm in our church parking lot!

non-frightening for the smaller children. Trunk kits can be purchased at Party City

College Care Kits
We know that going to college can be a difficult new season, and even more with current conditions and travel restrictions. Trips home during the semester and even parent campus visits have been put on hold. We want to let your students know that their church family is thinking of them - we want to show our support by sending them a care package.
Please send us the name and address of your college students
(and any allergies/diet restrictions) by October 15th.
Send to Megan Gilley: email@example.com
If anyone would like to help us support these students, there will be a donation box in the Narthex starting October 17th. Once we have the number of students, we will post the “shopping list”.
We hope to have everything collected and shipped the first week of November.

All-Church Education Hour!
Each Sunday at 9:45am!
Come hear Pastor Mary talk about her sermon
and go into greater depth about the scripture!
Don't miss this!
Education Hour Begins
Exciting times at Green Valley UMC, we have begun our All Church Education Hour!
Why is it called "All Church?" Because many times church members will attend either the early or late service and it can feel like there are two different churches. By coming together in the middle we will get to know people we might rarely, if ever, see or meet. This one hour each Sunday morning will help us be a stronger and more unified church, a real church family.
So, plan to come early if you normally worship at 11:00am or plan to stay if you attend worship at 8:30am. At Green Valley we will be a church that worships our God and comes together in fellowship to learn and draw closer to God. So, plan now for a complete worship
and spiritual growth experience every Sunday. We are one Church!

Education Hour Kick-Off
Pastor Mary will kick-off our new All Church Education Hour with an exciting series.
During the sermon have you ever wanted to ask a question? What did she mean?
How did the Pastor come up with that example? I've read that passage before, aren't there other important points, why did the Pastor choose that one? In every passage of Scripture there are so many different points or messages yet the Pastor will zero in on one, why?
In this series Pastor Mary can talk to us in greater depth about the passage by going into greater depth and then explain how she focused her message. We will be able to ask questions and have a dialogue/discussion to help us all gain a greater understanding of scripture and how we can apply it to our daily lives. For those who attend the 11:00am service you will be getting a "sneak preview" of the sermon and be able to listen to the message with a more in-depth understanding.
No sign ups required, please come and join in anytime!
