Uplifted by Love that Lives On
Sunday is All Saints Day when we will remember our loved ones who are included in the "great cloud of witnesses". We will acknowledge that we are recipients of their love for us and how that love continues to flow today. Have a candle or two or three ready for this worship hour of remembrance.
In addition, Laura and Scott Hensley will be our worship music leaders. Some of you know Laura and Scott through their work with Walk to Emmaus. I am praying for our time together. Just one more Sunday after next and we will be able to worship face to face when we meet for worship outdoors on November 15th.

This Week's Scripture Verse
When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and after he sat down, his disciples came to him. Then he began to speak, and taught them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. “Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
November Communion Offering
The November Communion offering will go to support the Dry Bottoms Project (Sponsored by Sisters of Spirit).
For the past several years the Sisters of Spirit have coordinated this very special project for children in low-income schools who may have an emergency need for a change of clothing during regular school hours. Unfortunately, due to the Covid Restrictions regarding schools being opened regularly this year…we’ve been unable to provide this service to our selected schools. We are keeping in touch with the proper authorities, however, and plan to “revive” this outreach as soon as possible. The donations are generally collected in August in order to be available to the schools shortly after they open. With so much uncertainty regarding rules and regulations…full and/or part time openings…this, of course, did not occur. As soon as we receive permission to visit the school sites with our “gifts of love” we shall do so. Any monetary donations will be secured and used to purchase underwear, sox, jeans, and t-shirts for girls and boys for ages K-6 when we get the “ok” to go shopping!

Socially Distanced Sunday School!
Our new way to share a bit of Christ's love from your GVUMC family to your home with your kids!
What Is Take Out Church?
Think of it like a "take home" Sunday school. We are going to be sending out bible lessons as well as coloring pages, crafts, and on occasion, a special snack to go with the lesson in either pizza boxes or takeout bags.
How To Get The Take Out Sunday School?
We will have them available in the church office for pickup. If you are unable to pick it up, please let us know and we can deliver it to your house. Just let us know what works best for you!
What We Ask Of You?
All we need from you is to respond with how many kids you will be collecting this take home Sunday school opportunity for as well as a list of allergies so we can make sure we don't pack any snack surprises they're allergic to!
In addition please respond with their grade and age so we can customize it more to them!
Please email email@example.com is you wish to participate in Take Home Sunday School

Online Memorial Page
Losing a member of our church family is always difficult, but during the current pandemic and time of separation it has become harder to share our grief, share stories and celebrate life as a church community.
We have created an online memorial board and we invite everyone to please share your memories, stories and/or photos of church members who have passed.
Click HERE to go to the online memorial board
We hope this online memorial board will help bring us together as a community and not only share our grief, but help celebrate the life of the members who have been a vital part of the GVUMC community.
Although we cannot visit in person, please let the church office know if you or a family member are in the hospital so we on the visitation team can uplift you in prayer as well as visit by phone.
We on the visitation team also reach out to those who feel isolated at home, in assisted living, or in nursing homes.
Call the church office or Lynn Dunn at 702-435-1662 so we are aware of who would like visited by phone calls until we can meet in person.
If any committee or group would like to make an announcement to everyone who receives this newsletter, please email ANNOUNCEMENT PLEASE no later than Tuesday evenings.
