HELPING THOSE IN NEED
This year the Town Hall, Recreation Dept. and Whipple Free Library’s Giving Trees will be virtual. You can help less fortunate New Boston children and families’ Christmas wishes come true.
The Whipple Free Library asks that you leave your donation in the metal Book Return in an envelope marked Giving Tree. If you come in for an appointment, you may bring your donation inside and place it in the gift box in the hallway.
The Town Hall/Recreation Dept.’s drop off for donations is the New Boston Recreation Dropbox located right outside the Recreation Dept. door. As a thank you for helping those that cannot afford to purchase Christmas gifts this year, there will be an ornament-coloring sheet available for you to decorate and place on your tree.
The drop off box is located at the Recreation Dept., 5 Meeting house Hill Road. The Old Engine House is between the gazebo and the Town Hall. The locked box is available 24/7/365.
We are accepting your generous donation of Gift Cards or checks made out to the
Community Church of New Boston, with Giving Tree on the Memo line.
Please make your donation from

"Being Mortal" by Atul Gwande
In Being Mortal, author Atul Gawande tackles the hardest challenge of his profession: how medicine can not only improve life but also the process of its ending
Gawande, a practicing surgeon, addresses his profession's ultimate limitation, arguing that quality of life is the desired goal for patients and families. Gawande offers examples of freer, more socially fulfilling models for assisting the infirm and dependent elderly, and he explores the varieties of hospice care to demonstrate that a person's last weeks or months may be rich and dignified. (Goodreads review)
