Take and Make: Miss Rumphius Seed Bombs

In honor of Earth Day we are offering these
Miss Rumphius Seed Bombs for a Take and Make.

Miss Rumphius is a picture book for children written and illustrated by Barbara Cooney. It features the life story of fictional Miss Alice Rumphius, a woman who sought a way to make the world more beautiful and found it in planting lupines in the wild.
Your seed bombs are made with non-toxic air-dry clay, soil, bits of tissue paper and lupine seeds!
Let’s make our town more beautiful by sowing seeds!  Make sure you ask permission if wishing to sow seeds outside of your own property.

Brewing in NH: An Informal History of Beer in the Granite State
from Colonial Times to the Present

Thursday May 20th at 7:00pm

Presented by Glenn Kloblock
Sponsored by New Hampshire Humanities

Glenn Knoblock explores the fascinating history of New Hampshire’s beer and ale brewing industry from Colonial days, when it was home- and tavern-based, to today’s modern breweries and brew pubs. Unusual and rare photos and advertisements document this changing industry and the state’s earliest brewers, including the renowned Frank Jones. A number of lesser-known brewers and breweries that operated in the state are also discussed, including the only brewery owned and operated by a woman before the modern era. Illustrations present evidence of society’s changing attitudes towards beer and alcohol consumption over the years. Whether you’re a beer connoisseur or a “tea-totaler”, this lecture will be enjoyed by adults of all ages.

This event will be held via zoom, please register here if interested

Join armchair art theft expert Rachel Stevenson as she discusses art thefts where paintings of women were stolen, the most notorious female art thief, why paintings are stolen multiple times, and if a piece of art can curse the thief if not returned to where it belongs.
Rachel Stevenson studied art history under Osi Rhys Osmond in Wales. She is obsessed with art theft and has read a great deal on the subject.

Donations can be dropped off at the seed library during business hours. "Heirloom" seeds preferred!
