Thanks for a great year!
We want to thank you very much for your support during 2016! It's been a huge year for us, we kicked things off by significantly expanding our on-water programs, introducing 6 new training groups. These included our first womens group, a series of beginner courses, and a strength & conditioning program at Hobart College. Throughout the year the new sessions have helped to create a complete "beginner to advanced" pathway for our paddlers, with ongoing opportunities to develop in new environments.
This year we also launched a new website, including a web store which properly presented our products and services for the first time. So far the new site has averaged an order for every day which is a terrific start for a small operation like NLK. We have approached this new venture as we do everything - with passion, attention to detail and a "paddler first" focus on service.
We were very excited to welcome our 4th family member this year, with little Erik joining his brother Leo to ensure there is never a dull (or quiet!) moment at NLK headquarters. We love seeing them both grow up around paddling and an active lifestyle, just like I did when I was young.
We've been extremely active around the Tasmanian paddling scene during 2016, sponsoring, supporting and competing in all major paddlesport events.
We also had our ski & kayak safety course recognised this year, becoming a MAST Paddle Safe Partner and forming a relationship with Canoe Tasmania to deliver this course to new areas of Tasmania.
Paddling as a sport is great leveller - it puts people in close contact with nature and, over time, the exposure to all sorts of conditions and situations selects for very passionate, friendly and down to earth people who love what they do. Paddlers form close bonds and look out for each other on and off the water. We have spent time with some terrific paddlers during 2016, but more importantly we have met and hung out with some genuinely great people. This is one of the best things about the paddling community and we are always grateful for the experiences and friendships that our sport presents.
We'll be back in touch early in the New Year with details for our 6th Australia Day Kayak Challenge at the Sandy Bay Regatta - always a good day out! We'll also have all the information you need to participate in our 2017 group training programs (starting 30th January) and beginner courses (starting 5th February).
Thanks again for an awesome 2016, have a relaxing Christmas and New Year and we'll see you for some more paddling next year!
Ben, Lisa, Leo & Erik
