Invitation to Participate in This Year's Boston Poetry Marathon

Dear Poet,

We’re pleased to announce that it’s Boston Poetry Marathon time again! We are hoping you are able to read in one of the available time slots during the Boston Poetry Marathon, which will take place on Thursday and Friday night, and all day Saturday, August 5-7.

This year’s poetry marathon will be held remotely, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and out of respect for the health and happiness of our global family. We love you all and want us all to stay safe, so we will remain on Zoom for one more year (hopefully just one more year!). Fear not: we will still have moonbeams, mirth, and the mighty fire for social justice--as we did last year.

RSVP ASAP - First Come, First Served Spots!

If you are interested in reading, please reply to this message and let us know about the following things:

  • How to pronounce your name so the MC for the hour can be sure to introduce you correctly
  • Your pronoun preferences
  • Your time slot preference

The available slots are:

  • Thursday night (starting at 6pm)
  • Friday night (starting at 6pm)
  • Saturday day (from noon to the 5 o’clock hour)
  • Saturday night (starting at 6pm)
It is very helpful if you are specific about your time slot preference, so don't be shy! Please also let us know when you are definitely NOT available.

RSVPs will be on a first come, first served basis. If you reply after the time slots are filled, we will add your name to a wait-list. We will take RSVPs up until July 23, but we encourage you to reply as soon as possible since slots are limited.

All readers will have a 5 minute time slot to read. We ask that all readers use Zoom as a platform and have access to an account.

2021 Fundraiser

This year we will be fundraising for organizations that fight against racial injustice, in support of Black Lives Matter and the AAPI community/ #StopAsianHate movement. The three local organizations we are fundraising for this year are: SISTA Fire Rhode Island, the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts, and the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center

We raised close to $2000 last year, so we are increasing our goal to $2200 to raise funds for these crucial organizations. To contribute to the fundraiser, please go to our Go Fund Me page:

Moonbeams, Mirth, and Merriment

We hope you will be able to come and read some poems!  As usual: we are an all-volunteer event, so we don’t pay. We hang out--virtually (this year). We have fun--always. Last year’s virtual event was incredible. We were so touched with our global, poetic community. We donated, we read, we moved mountains. We hope to create a festive celebration of poetry once again this year, filled with moonbeams, mirth, and merriment.

Please remember that we are all volunteers, we are humans, and we are in this together. We hope you will consider joining us in August.

Poetically Yours,
Your BPM 2021 organizers: Christina, Xtina, Suzanne, and Bridget
