How long has your business been in Haymarket? 2 years with Haymarket Chamber though my grandmother's family lived in a building on Campbell Street in the 1920's as proprietors of Wing Sang.
Could you indicate what makes your business competitive in your industry and local area?
Haymarket/Chinatown represents one of the most culturally diverse and commercially rich precincts in Sydney. Haymarket Chamber reflects these unique aspects through the diverse backgrounds of our Executive team, the variety of activities/programs and the range of businesses in our membership.
What changes have you observed in the local area and business community during this time? Over the last few years we have seen an increase in residential business owners who have chosen to live and work in the area. Accompanying this groups has been a surge of diverse Asian businesses investing and visiting Haymarket.
Why do you think the Haymarket Chamber attracts so many members? With over 3000 businesses, new billion dollar developments and increased tourism/investment, Haymarket's commercial nature reflects its origin as a marketplace which began over 100 years.
Could you describe Haymarket in three words? Dynamic, progressive and innovative.
Favourite place in Haymarket? Dixon Street and the emerging Chinese restaurants from various provinces.
What do you see as happening in 2014? Regular Belmore Park Markets, increase in Chamber membership, implementation of the China Public Domain Plans, Chamber growth and welcoming new residents, investors, tourists and businesses in the area.
Any advice to other businesses? Listen to your market, anticipate their future needs, adapt with innovation and love your work!.
What is one of your favourite quotes? 'One who knows she has enough is rich.' Tao Te Ching
