A Word from Fr. George...

This coming weekend we are pleased and privileged to have Fr. Bill McConville, OFM with us as part of our Lenten observance. Fr. Bill is one of our Franciscan brothers stationed at St. Francis of Assisi in Raleigh, NC and will lead our Lenten Parish Mission.  As a prelude to the Lenten Mission, Fr. Bill will be preaching at all the Masses this coming weekend, and so you will have an opportunity to experience his powerful and dynamic preaching. We hope you will simply “want more” and will join us beginning Monday evening for our Lenten Parish Mission.
It is your Lent and your life. Be intentional and make the commitment to join us for what will be a vibrant journey of “Walking in Hope.”

Save the Date - Lenten Parish Mission
Monday, March 17th – Wednesday, March 19th
7:00 pm each night in the Church

At the core of our Lenten journey lay the mysteries of death and life. We walk with the Lord on His journey to Jerusalem to undergo His saving death and His resurrection in the power of the Spirit. We walk with those who come to our faith community to die with Christ in Baptism and rise to the beginning of new life with Him. We walk with each other as we renew and deepen our Baptismal promises and to enjoy peace, joy, and hope – the gifts of God’s spirit.
Fr. Bill will lead us to pray and reflect on our own deaths and on the hope that the Lord offers to each of us. What does death mean for a Christian? How do we die well? What will it mean for us to give an account of our lives before a merciful yet just God? How do we imagine our ultimate destiny, the fullness of life in the Kingdom of God? Heaven? Hell? And what of Purgatory?
