America Reads Program Recap

We are excited to share the data recap of our 2019-2020 America Reads Program.
The federal program, started in 1996, was built off the Department of Education's work-study program. The program provides part-time employment for college students who tutor preschool, elementary, and middle school children in math and reading.
When the COVID-19 pandemic closed schools in March 2020, the program adapted to the change and began filming videos of the Wichita State students reading books and posted them on the Wichita State Career Development Center's website.
Teri Robertson, Office Manager for the Wichita State University Career Development Center, has taken on the role of America Reads program coordinator for the past two years, and has done an excellent job expanding the program on campus. If you have questions or want more information, contact Teri at ext. 6131 or
