Spring 2020 Graduate Highlights 
The Career Development Center is highlighting our Spring 2020 graduates and showcasing their careers after college. Check them out on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Highlighted above is senior communication major, Kaisha Batman. She will soon be starting a new position as an MMJ/Bureau Reporter for KSN TV based out of Garden City. Batman said, “I am excited for my new position because I not only get to work my dream job, but I also get to represent the part of Kansas I am from. It is definitely the best of both worlds.”

Applied Learning Highlight: Alok Dand
Ph.D. candidate in industrial engineering, Alok Dand, is currently working at Airbus as a business system and data analyst. Dand develops and provides robust solutions using various data analysis methods and creates knowledgeable transfer programs and sessions. He also creates key performance metric tracking dashboards, automates data collection, and reporting of varying project performance for the senior management. Dand said, "This is the most rewarding and essential part of my academic journey—a fun experience with awesome mentors that help me grow both personally and professionally."

Workshop for Seniors: Graduating and Still Looking For a Job?

The Career Development Center is hosting workshops for seniors who are graduating and seeking employment. At these meet-ups we will discuss:  

• Wichita State resources available to you, and how to access them
• Networking and staying connected with industry
• Professional skill development via LinkedIn Learning

There are two sessions left to attend May 12 at 11 a.m., and May 21 at 4 p.m. Students must register through Zoom to attend.

LinkedIn: Power of Your Profile Workshop

For many, LinkedIn is the social media equivalent of an awkward networking event. However, 98% of recruiters and 85% of hiring managers use LinkedIn to find candidates. For students, this can be a brilliant way to begin building your network. If you don't know how to use LinkedIn or have never even considered it, come to this workshop where you'll learn how to craft a stellar profile, build a valuable network and leverage both to your best advantage. This workshop will be hosted by Eric Rauber, Higher Education Learning Consultant at LinkedIn Learning.
