Tuscan Landscape

Food & Lifestyle Photography Workshop

Tuscany - Fall 2016

After months of planning, Carol, founder of Delectable Destinations, is thrilled to announce that we have teamed up with Photographer Ariel Tarr to offer you this unique food photography workshop in Tuscany. We could not imagine a more perfect backdrop for our upcoming adventure, as we learn to create "through our lens" and celebrate the delicious Tuscan cuisine during the harvest season.

Carol's love for Italy began 16 years ago and with it, her love for the food, culture and people of this amazing country. This passion for Italy is the main reason she began her journey of organizing culinary experiences and during these trips, she "developed" a new excitement for photography. This naturally led her to begin the process of organizing a Food/Photography trip. Teaming up with Ariel is the final ingredient in making this project a reality, in one of the most beautiful regions of Italy.

Together, we invite you to join us this Fall for our Food & Lifestyle Photography Workshop & Culinary Experience in the spectacular Chianti region of Tuscany.

The Location - Villa La Quercia

The Details

October 22 - 29, 2016. We are offering a 6 day/7 night Food & Lifestyle Photography Workshop in the charming town of Impruneta, just outside of Florence. Our accommodations will be at the beautiful Estate of Villa La Quercia, a 17th century stone cottage, surrounded by olive orchards and vineyards.

This 6 day event includes cooking classes and workshops as well as visits to some of the most beautiful, charming and historical towns in Tuscany. Florence, Pienza and Radda, to name just a few. Visits to private vineyards for wine and olive oil tastings, a unique sustainable “cashmere” goat farm, an organic artisanal pecorino and goat cheese farm, a chef guided market day in Florence and a photographer’s dream - a day trip to the region of Crete Senesi, one of the most picturesque regions of Tuscany. Dining at the villa and local trattorias throughout the week.

The Workshop

Students will learn how to see food at its best through understanding/modifing natural light, composition, styling and props. The workshop will allow participants many opportunities to exercise their creativity with free-style Photography/Styling excercises.

The workshop will introduce students to Food Photography trends, the work of inspirational photographers and blogs to follow. Students will learn about Prop Styling and how props can be used to create different moods.

This workshop is for anyone with a love of photography and basic understanding of their DSLR camera (tripod and laptop with processing software recommended but not required).

Highlights include group discussions and individual excersises designed to develop one's eye, creativity and style. The workshop will cover the basic tools used in Food Photography (tripods, reflectors, diffusers, lens selection), shooting on location, white balance, the impact of depth of field and how to edit photographs in Lightroom. Since the trip includes visits to many gorgeous locations, the workshop will delve into story telling through Food Photography. Students will be introduced to the essentials of shooting Lifestyle photography (environmental portraits, landscapes, street photography and detail shots.

With the small class size, there will be opportunity for personal instruction as needed.
