Article on slow versus fast twitch muscles fibers is linked to the figure

FITOLDDOG'S MISTAKE CORRECTED (FAST TWITCH V SLOW TWITCH MUSCLE FIBERS AND CYCLING CADENCE):

“It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.”

During a conversation about the value of the Feldenkrais Method for optimal body movement on the SlowTwitch Triathlon Forum, I was corrected by Eppur Si Muove, as follows:

"I may be mistaken, but my impression is that fast cadence is actually more associated with slow twitch fibers, contrary to what one might think. Pushing hard in a low gear would require more fast twitch fibers."

I stand corrected, thank you Eppur. Thank you!

COACHING:

Time to hire a coach, and until my business is successful I've decided to limit triathlon-related cash flow - camping at races, only buying gear I really need, limiting race signup for next year (Eagleman, Lake Placid, Mont-Tremblant, and one Boston Qualifier Marathon, plus local runs), and using an online coach. I signed up for Mark Allen Online, and here is the first maintenance workout set - looks pretty solid to me, based on my input. Let's see how it goes.
ART:

I have a lot of artists in my life, even though I tend to stick left-brain, 'logical 'activities, largely. I did take a great course many years ago, based on a book entitled, "Drawing On The Right Side Of The Brain." All three of my sons, Nick, Duncan and Nigel, are artists, each in their own way. I recently enjoyed lunch with an old artist friend of mine the other day, Andy Fleishman, the guy who created The Guardian of my Little Blue House, in Carrboro, NC, USA. I've always liked the simple lines of his website. Over a coffee with Andy at Johnny's, Andy told me that he had built it himself in iWeb. What a great tool, which I just used to create my FitOldDog landing page. You can learn a lot from both Art and artists. Thanks Andy!
MOST POPULAR BLOG POST:

"A Masters Degree In Science! In Defense Of My Colleagues In PHARMA"

Maybe I should say it is my MOST UNPOPULAR BLOG POST. All comments to this article, so far anyway, have been either overtly or occultly hostile. My attempts to engage followers of Shane Ellison in a constructive debate have fallen on deaf ears. I went so far as to write a post "In Defense of Shane Elllison," and followed that one up with a largely favorable review of one of his books. But the negative comments come trickling in. I get hits on my first article daily, but not the follow up articles. Interesting, don't you think?

THEN

I attempted to post this debate on a large PHARMA site on LinkedIn and it was ignored!, and never posted, in spite of my successfully posting other articles elsewhere and carefully following LinkedIn rules. Ummh!!!
BUSINESS - third video added to our Plantar Fasciitis Treatment Product

Click on image for the link to our Plantar Fasciitis Landing Page.

In response to questions from a customer, we explored the issues, received a video showing this person standing and walking, and came to the conclusion that in this case severe plantar fasciitis was associated with collapsed or weak arches. Rebecca and I worked together to create a video that takes the viewer through a series of guided exercises designed to activate and strengthen ones foot arches.

We love it when someone writes in to say that they are making progress. Customer feedback provides the only way for us to fine tune and optimize this product
MAYA, SUE AND FITOLDDOG'S PLAN TO START A BEGINNER TRIATHLETE DISCUSSION GROUP IN THE LITTLE BLUE HOUSE (TLBH), CARRBORO, NC, USA:

Whilst out riding with Maya and Sue, Maya, who had just completed her first sprint triathlon, and loved it, said, "Kevin, the comments you gave me during the ride before my first race were the most helpful I received from anyone. I went online to try to find advice for beginners in this area and couldn't find anyone." The Sue said, the same, she had looked and found no one interested in talking to beginners.

So! We are going to set up an informal discussion group, open to all, at TLBH, 116 High Street, Carrboro, NC. Wonder how it will go? Nothing venture, nothing gain.

I'll add a landing page for this endeavor to fitolddog.com. Watch this space.

Wishing you happy feet!

Kind Regards,

Kevin aka FitOldDog
