Your Covid committee shares the following information in our ongoing effort to keep our Congregation as informed and safe as possible.
As we have reported previously, we have been following the Covid Act Now “US Covid Risk Level” guidelines. This provided 5 risk levels for various metrics for us to use as guidance in our safety protocol decision making.
During April 2022 Covid Act Now decided to replace these prior guidelines with a “Covid Community Level” framework that aligns with the CDC’s Community Levels. These track 3 primary metrics and grades them on a three-color scale (Green, Yellow, Orange).
The 3 metrics are:
- Weekly New Reported Cases
- Weekly Covid hospital admissions
- Percent of staffed inpatient beds occupied by Covid patients
Per Covid Act Now – “these changes reflect the now decreased risk of severe illness and death from COVID due to vaccines, broad testing that is not captured in test positivity rates, and the prevalence of highly transmissible variants such as Omicron.”
Your Covid committee feels it is important to stay aligned with Covid Act Now and will continue monitoring the weekly updates provided. Should changing conditions warrant, or if any of the primary metrics reach the highest level (Orange), the committee will reconvene to discuss whether any of our existing safety protocols need to be put back into place or revised and will communicate accordingly. Because the Covid Act Now updates now tend to be posted late in the week the committee will do our best to minimize any last-minute decisions impacting worship and other meetings and events.
We are pleased to report that as of May 2, 2022, all three primary metrics are currently Green for Lucas County.
We appreciate the Congregation’s ongoing support of our committee’s work. We continue to ask that we all remain mindful and respectful of individual preference when it comes to personal and family safety.
Your Covid Committee - Pastor Vern Swett, Pastor Mary Meadows, Jeanne Brockmyer, Sue Crescitelli, Jeff Finch, Steve Long, Peggy Meisner, Kelli Michael, Jane Ransom, Jeff Wahl

Our ongoing software conversion requires additional effort until it can produce quarterly giving statements. Please be advised that the first statement you receive in 2022 will cover the period of Jan - Jun 2022. From that point forward, we will revert to quarterly statements as usual. If you happen to need a statement before early July please email or call the church office so your request can be forwarded to Christy.
Thank you for your understanding.
