Hi <<First Name>>

Although we are disappointed not to be able to present Shir Madness this year at Emanuel Synagogue due to the ongoing pandemic, we have been inspired by the resilience and determination of Shir Madness artists to continue to make great music and entertain the community (often for no financial reward) during these difficult times.

Here is just a small selection of performances from past and future Shir Madness artists taking place in July.

Regular Shir Madness performer and cabaret artist, Joanna Weinberg is currently running not one, but three online choirs! Joanna’s choirs are for all ages and stages:
Baysingers: Thursday 10.30-11.30 am (beginners upwards)
Choir Rocks: Monday 6.00-7.30 pm (beginners with performance tendencies)
The Cleftomaniacs: Thursday evening 7.00 -9.00 pm (audition choir)
Check out this video of ‘Lockdown’ composed and directed by Joanna for her iso choir singers:

Besides being Shir Madness founder and Festival Director, Gary ("Yid Rock") Holzman is an intellectual property lawyer who has spent a lifetime researching the largely untold story of Jews in the world of pop and rock music. For over 12 years he has presented numerous talks on the subject under the label “The Jewish School of Rock” to the Jewish and wider community.

Throughout July Gary is presenting a number of multi-media talks exploring Jewish songwriters behind some of the biggest and best hits of all time. These presentations will feature rare video clips and interviews plus a host of great tracks that will have you dancing in the street a safe social distance!

CHUTNEY - with Ben Adler & Paul Khodor

Violinist Ben Adler and pianist Paul Khodor have been playing Jewish music together for the community for over a decade. Last year, they started the klezmer fusion band CHUTNEY, which plays a spicy, high-energy mix of original tunes and their own modern twists on traditional melodies. Here’s a little taste …
Ben and Paul released their own brand new arrangement of Yerushalayim shel Zahav on YouTube under the moniker Chutney Unplugged in May to coincide with Yom Yerushalayim this year.

While waiting for their chance to grace a live Shir Madness kids stage again, Tiptoe Giants have found time to produce these wonderful fruits during their lockdown in three different locations:
1. The Tiptoe Show - Episode 1.
Learn to say "Hello" in Spanish, read The Story of Ferdinand, celebrate individuality and mindfulness in nature.
2. Sneeze Cough Hand Wash - The Hygiene Song
As featured by Ben Fordham on 2GB radio!
3. Emergency (Wee Wah) - NEW VIDEO!
For this hit song from the Little Steps Big Adventures album
