Hi <<First Name>>

Shir Madness, like other music festivals, has been in forced hibernation since the pandemic hit. However, with the strong possibility of a vaccine in the near future, it is now time for us to start planning our come back.

We will be holding our AGM followed by a planning session on Tuesday 8th December @ 7:30pm in Edgecliff. This is the perfect time for us to hit the re-set button and shape a new vision for Shir Madness. So, if you have ever wanted to be involved in a broad based Jewish music and cultural festival now is your chance. We invite both young and old (but mainly young!) supporters to attend our meeting on 8th December. So we can control numbers and ensure safe social distancing at the meeting please send an email to to confirm your attendance. We will then send you the address details.

And to remind you just how great Shir Madness festivals are, click here or on the below photo to see highlights of our 2018 festival held at Emanuel Synagogue. The promo video was produced by our talented team of Judy Menczel and Adam Dostalek.

We are thrilled to announce that Yemen Blues will be performing a new show “We Shout Love” in a special free online event presented by Emanuel Synagogue and the Israeli Embassy.

In 2010, singer & composer Ravid Kahalani founded the rare combination of top musicians we now call Yemen Blues. The band has been described by Time Out Magazine as “one of the most exciting bands in world music right now”.

From the start, the band created an original sound that became a new language in contemporary music. The intense musicians hail from NYC, Uruguay and Tel Aviv and include the core members: Rony Iwryn, Itamar Doari and Shanir Blumenkranz. Each member comes from a different background and brings their own sound and arrangements to Ravid’s compositions.

The result of this amazing group is a powerful energy that mixes Yemenite, West African, Latin and Jazz influences and what Ravid likes to call “New Culture Music”. The mambo and North African rhythms create a joyful and deep foundation, while the vocals remind the listener of ancient Arabic chants mixed with funk and blues. Yemen Blues keeps magic alive with a constant stream of new songs and their world-renowned exciting live performances.

The pandemic has made touring impossible and this will be the band’s first performance in many months. It is anticipated that it will be viewed by thousands of people throughout the world.

The FREE online concert will take place at 7:00pm (Sydney time) on Sunday November 22nd.
