EDITOR'S NOTE

"Who has the time to go to all these meetings?" That cry is heard from the busy pastor who has many "irons in the fire." Today's pastor is engaged in preaching/teaching, study, counseling, visitation, administrative details, committee meetings, community involvement and more. Some pastors are also busy with secular work in order to provide for their family. Yes, we are all busy.

Prioritizing all of the responsibilities of ministry can be a difficult task. I would encourage you to place high upon that priority list a couple of meetings that are coming up. Both the MARBC Annual Meeting (September 21-23 at Austin) and the Midwest Congress of Baptist Fudnamentalists (October 26-27 at Baraboo, WI.)  are key meetings which a church leader should attend. Plan ahead. Get work and study responsibilities done early so that you can be blessed through the ministry of the Word and fellowship of the saints. The MARBC family is a close-knit group of brethren who are working together to advance the cause of Christ in our state. And you will be encouraged through the Baptist Fundamentalist Congress that there is a larger network that is not in competition with one another, but rather complementing each others ministries.

I look forward to seeing you at both of these meetings. Churches, encourage your pastor and wife/family to get away to these important conferences. Pay their way. They will come back rejuvenated to ser
ve with a renewed vigor.

MARBC ANNUAL MEETING - September 21-23

Join us at Grace Baptist in Austin for a time of fellowship, edification and revival. Dr. Ernie Schmidt, former pastor, educator and interim college/seminary president, will be speaking on "A God-Honoring Ministry: Lessons from Nehemiah."

The conference is for the entire family. The host church will provide a nursery and have supervision and activities for children during the main sessions.

Once again we encourage women to attend these meetings. Special sessions and a brunch will be held just for them. The host church asks that you RSVP your place with them, as well as the number and ages of any children you will be bringing.

Those desiring to have a display at the conference should contact the MARBC office. An application can be requested HERE.

More information about the meetings and a brochure can be downloaded HERE.

BASS LAKE CAMPING NEWS

The "Shekels for Seven Projects" is coming along nicely. Some great news arrived to us when donors announced that they will match gifts up to $100k. One of our board members has produced a video that explains this opportunity with a safe and secure website whereby you can make donations to the camp online. We have reached 10% of our goal and need God's people to help us get the rest. CLICK HERE to see the video.

MARSHALL - First Baptist

About 50 children (grades K-6) participated in a Soccer Camp. Camp began Sunday evening, August 2, and ran for two hours each evening through Wednesday, August 5. The Marshall congregation uses the ministry in a similar way to a VBS, with Bible teaching, memory work, and songs in addition to the athletic activity.

The soccer portion of the program was overseen by Ann Brownlee, mother of three who played in college at Southwest Minnesota State University, and has experience in coaching youth. Pastor Zac Patke taught a series of lessons on Christ as the goal based on the book of Philippians.

“Soccer Camp was an effective means to teach gospel principles to our church children and evangelize their unsaved friends,” says Pastor Greg Linscott. “It also provided a tremendous venue for our ethnically diverse congregation to minister together on a level platform.”

ROCHESTER - Calvary Baptist
May's activities included the AWANA awards night and a Mother Daughter Brunch in the morning and motorcycle ride in the afternoon. The Mother Daughter brunch was well attended with over 100 ladies in attendance.

Recent guest speakers have included Phil Demarte (France), Steve Kuehn (Philippines and a member of our church), Tom and Penny Latham (Brazil), Brian and Lois Niehoff (South Africa) and Darrell Friar (MARBC Representative and Camp Director).

Our youth group hosted a generation auction and the senior saints in the church got to “bid” on a group of our teens. There was no actual money involved, but the teens and the seniors were matched up to spend some time outside of church together. It was a fun evening for all and the teens and seniors have enjoyed their time together.

Several of our teens held an open house as they graduated from high school. We held Promotion Sunday on May 31. The graduating seniors were given Bibles and a small gift from the church. The sixth grade students moving to seventh grade were given study Bibles to use as Heritage Bibles. The Kindergarten graduates were also given Bibles.

This summer all of the adult Sunday School classes are combined for a Works of God in creation study taught by Dr. Craig Frisk.

We have a young man who is working at the church this summer with a specific focus on outreach opportunities. He is taking the lead on working at many parades and fairs with either a booth or with a group of people handing out tracts. He is very passionate about this ministry and has several who are working with him at these different activities.

In June, we also hosted our Gilgal Day Camp and our teens were the counselors for nearly 100 kids. They had activities throughout the week and had at least twelve salvation decisions during the week! The following week we hosted a free soccer camp and had almost 100 kids for that as well. We had twenty new families out of that number and at least one young person who accepted Christ!

On June 21, we hosted the MN. Teen Challenge choir. This is a Christian drug and alcohol recovery program. Twenty-nine men came that day. Their ministry included singing, testimonials of accepting Christ, and working to overcome addictions to rebuild their lives.
