As I write this most of the state of Minnesota is getting clobbered with a storm. Most are getting significant snow, although the storm also includes graupel, sleet, freezing rain, rain, strong winds and even thunder. I am grateful to be in a warm, dry home which is protected from the elements.

Where is your home? While most will rattle off a street address, the Christian should recognize his home is the Lord. "LORD, You have been our dwelling place in all generations" (Psalm 90:1). The Lord is our home, our dwelling place. In Him we find shelter from the storms of life. I trust the Lord is your home and you are taking safe refuge in Him no matter which season you enter.

It was February 4, 1968 when The Odd Fellows Hall in Moorhead, MN hosted the inaugural service of Brookdale Baptist Church. On February 4, 2018, fifty years to the day, the congregation commemorated 50 years of God’s grace and faithfulness! Honored guests included Stephen and Evelyn Stilwell, the first missionaries taken on by the church and Darrell Friar, State Representative for the MARBC. Each presented a greeting and challenge to the congregation. Charter member Norma Sanders (pictured below) was also able to be present.

Founding Pastor, John Schroder, was unable to attend due to weather. All of the former pastors sent greetings that were either read or heard during the two hour morning service. A lunch was followed by an hour long season of testimonies highlighting God’s blessing and leading of individuals and families to become part of the Brookdale church family.

The church deliberately wanted to make this a “low-key” event. That meant rejoicing in God’s goodness and blessings in the past, but looking to the future and focusing on faithfulness to fulfill the Great Commission over the next 50 years, should God tarry.

Grace Baptist Church of Austin is pleased to announce the calling of their new pastor Dan Mielke. Pastor Dan, along with his wife Christa, have roots in Minnesota although their recent history brings them to us from Wisconsin. Be sure to give them a warm welcome into our fellowship.

The Austin Daily Herald interviewed the couple and you can access their story HERE.

Colleen Tronson, director of Women's Metro Center, will be the featured speaker at the Northern Ladies Spring Retreat on April 6-7. The meeting will be held at Brookdale Baptist Church in Moorhead. The theme is "Bloom Where You're Planted."

Packets of information have been mailed to northern fellowship churches. For more information, contact the host church at 218-233-8758.

Grace Baptist Church of Mankato will be hosting the Southern Ladies' Spring Rally on Saturday, April 21. Mrs. Christa Mielke, the wife of the new pastor in Austin, will be the featured speaker.

Further information will be sent to the churches soon. You can also call the church at 507-388-9355.

It's not too early to sign up for camp. Those signing up by April 15 will attend camp at the least expensive rate. All campers who register by June 4 will receive a t-shirt too.

Due to a winter storm, the Camp Corporation Meeting is being rescheduled for March 19 at West River Road Baptist Church in Brooklyn Park at 7:00 p.m.

Counselors Wanted: The camp is looking for some energetic, fun-filled, compassionate college-aged young people who would want to serve at camp. We need counselors July 6-28. Those desiring to add some additional income can also serve with us in staff positions June 11-30. An application is available at our WEBSITE. Applications are due March 31.

Developer's Projects: This year's projects for camp include Aqua-Glide (a large flotation device for the waterfront), two more picnic tables, corn hole game (bean bag toss), buffet table, mattresses and a human foosball game.

Developer's Banquet is scheduled for April 27 at First Baptist Church in Brownsdale (6:00 p.m.). You are welcome to join us for a meal, a small gift from the camp and some camping news and updates. An offering for the Developer's projects will be received.

Be sure to place the 2018 dates into your calendar. Those dates are at the end of this newsletter.

Make plans to join us for our trip to the Washington D.C. area. The dates will be in late September or early October. (We are still awaiting booking confirmation from our hotel.) Sites scheduled include The White House (pictured), The National Bible Museum, The Washington Mall and Smithsonians, Mt. Vernon, Monticello and more. It's a trip you will not want to miss.

Brochures are in the process of being printed and should be in churches by March 18. Those who have been on past trips will get a brochure mailed to their home too.

We had a fun and spiritually challenging Funtastic 2018! We had a great group of about 100 teens and sponsors in attendance. Pastor Lance Augsburger from Maranatha Baptist Church in Grimes, IA challenged the teens from Colossians 3:1-17. Praise the Lord for several teens who made decisions regarding "putting off the old man" and "putting on the new." Pray for our youth sponsors as they continue to follow up with their students. Special thanks to Faith Baptist Bible College and Maranatha Baptist University for sending a team to help us with the event.
