"Absent from the body and present with the Lord." Can there be any greater comfort for the child of God in times of sorrow and loss? On April 16, my predecessor, confidante, and friend graduated to glory to be with his Savior.

While many will remember this dear brother's dry sense of humor ("Was he serious or just pulling my leg?"), I will always remember him as a meek and godly man. To this day he still casts a long shadow on the ministries which he led in Minnesota (see picture of the famous hog roast at camp). His was a story of God's mercy. God's mercy was evidenced in salvation and in a call to ministry. Paul fought the calling of God until the Lord gave him a second opportunity. That's why the book of Jonah was his favorite Old Testament book. Our loss is heaven's gain. Please remember to pray for Edwina and other family members during this time of loss.

PAUL LOBB - With the Lord

Funeral service for Rev. Paul David Lobb, age 80, of Mansfield, MN was held on April 21, 2015, at Grace Baptist Church in Austin. Rev. Dennis Seiler and Rev. Ronald J. Hemsworth, II officiated.

Paul died on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

Paul David Lobb was born on January, 13, 1935, in Duluth, MN, the son of William J. and Bertha (Minks) Lobb.  He grew up on the family farm in Markham, MN.   As a child he attended elementary school in Markham and then graduated from Aurora High School in 1953.  On October 1, 1955, Paul was united in marriage to Edwina Kunnary in Virginia, MN.

Paul loved teaching his family the joys of the great outdoors; camping, fishing, hunting, mountains and oceans.  Paul was known for his unique sense of humor, love of laughter and gentle spirit.  He was a selfless giver and source of boundless wisdom.  He cherished times with his children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed.

Paul pastored the Unionville Baptist Church, Unionville, IA, Mount Ararat Baptist Church, Centerville IA, Prairie Flower Baptist Church, Washington, IA, and Lakeland Baptist Church, Gilbert, MN.

Paul was the state representative for the Minnesota Association of Regular Baptist Churches and director of Bass Lake Camp from 1985 to 2000.  He served on the boards of Iowa Regular Baptist Camp, Faith Baptist Bible College, Iowa and Minnesota Councils of Seven.

In “retirement” Paul and Edwina served as short- term missionaries in New Zealand and missionary conferences in Peru.  He was field representative for Bibles International in MN, ND, SD, and WI.  Paul was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Albert Lea.

Survivors include his wife Edwina, children Marlaine (John) Matthiesen of IN, Timothy Lobb of NJ, and Terri (Dean) Zabrocki of MN, daughter-in-law Sharon Lobb of IA; grandchildren Travis (Sarah) Matthiesen, Ashley (James) Rice, Joshua (Sarah) Lobb, Lucas (Megan) Lobb, Jennifer (Nick) Ross, Zachary Lobb, Kirk (Kristin) Lobb, Kyle (Kelli) Lobb, Justin (Danielle) Lobb, Jacob Lobb, Danielle Zabrocki and Zachary Zabrocki.  Nine great-grandchildren; sister Susan Vetvick; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

On Sunday, April 19, Pastor Joe DiVietro (pictured second from left) was installed as sixth pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Sauk Centre. It has been over 20 years since the church has had a change of pastors.

Pastor DiVietro, along with his wife Kristi, were challenged by a letter from Darrell Friar (the MARBC representative for Minnesota), and by Pastor Nathan Gast of Urbandale Baptist Church in Urbandal
e, Iowa, and deacon Gene Peterson.

Following the service refreshments were served in the basement. Continue in prayer for this new pastoral familiy and the opportunities they will have while ministering in the Sauk Centre area.

The Memorial Day Rally will be held on May 25. Plans include flag-raising at 11:30, catered meal at noon, and a service at 1:30. The service will feature Mr. Michael Eckers (Owatonna).
