Africa Oyé announce third wave of acts for 2019 festival

The Garifuna Collective from Belize and legendary reggae artist Horace Andy will headline the 27th annual Africa Oyé festival this summer.

Taking place in Liverpool's Sefton Park on the 22nd and 23rd of June, the music and culture of Africa and the Diaspora will once again take centre stage for two free days of fantastic live performances, DJ sets and multi-arts workshops.

Sound City is returning for another whirlwind weekend of music in 2019. 

Liverpool is renowned for its musical heritage and radiates an energy unlike any other city in the UK. Sound City captures the vibrancy of the city with the unforgettable 3 day festival that sees established names perform alongside a constant stream of local, national and international emerging talent. 

This year's eclectic concoction of music features at a range of venues in Liverpool's creative hub, The Baltic Triangle. 

Artists include Mabel, Loyle Carner, Louis Berry, and The Magic Gang, with many, many more.

Open Affordable Art Auction

As part of the Knowsley Open Art Exhibition, an 'Open Affordable Art Auction' is being held at the end of the exhibition. This is a fundraising event with proceeds from the auction being donated to the 'Friends of Kirkby Gallery and Prescot Museum' group. Adam Partridge (Flog It, Bargain Hunt and Cash in the Attic) will be the celebrity auctioneer!

LightNight 2019

LightNight is Liverpool's one night arts festival - a time for visitors of all ages to come along and see the city in a new light with everything from large-scale light projections and live music to workshops and spoken word, art, crafts and theatre, street performance, walking tours, dancing and late-opening exhibitions taking place right across the city centre.

LightNight sees venues large and small, old and new stay open late to celebrate the incredible arts and culture on offer in Merseyside. Each year tens of thousands of people take the opportunity to try something new; see something different; step out of their comfort zone; or just spend time with friends and family.

LightNight is part of Museums at Night, the national festival of arts & culture that sees cultural spaces around the UK open late into the night.

Physical Fest 2019

Physical Fest is Tmesis Theatre's international physical theatre festival. A 6-day festival presenting performances, workshops, a conference and bursaries for the creation of new work. A celebration of the rich variety of local, national and international contemporary physical work, the only festival of its kind in the UK. 

Following a break last year, Physical Fest returns as an officially bi-annual event from 2019, featuring a range of performers from across the globe.

Highlights include Izumi Ashizawa, who incorporates traditional Japanese performance styles and puppetry into her hauntingly beautiful show 'I Cried Because I Had No Shoes Until...', as well as the American sensation of gender trickery and audience immersion, Butt Kapinski who will invite Liverpool audiences to co-star in a choose-your-own-adventure murder mystery.

Ever fancied having a go at being in a choir? Want to come and help Liverpool Rainbow Chorus (Liverpool's LGBT+ Choir) celebrate their 10 year anniversary? Then join Scratch Choir!

A scratch choir is brought together for one day to learn 1 or 2 songs, to perform the same day. As part of the Big Gig scratch choir, you'll learn two songs under the direction of seasoned choir Musical Director and musician Mersey Wylie before performing as part of Liverpool Rainbow Chorus' anniversary concert.
