Hushtones launch debut EP

ONE of Liverpool’s hottest new acts Hushtones are set to release their debut, self-titled EP on November 16 at Sound Basement, Duke Street, on a night hosted by The Music Manual.

Boasting four tracks, the EP is summed up by the band as an ode to mental health, political anguish, heartbreak and wanting to have a good time.

The self titled release features tracks such as; Good Fight, a song written around the time of the Grenfell tragedy and the 2017 snap election, alongside the more laid back tune State of Mind, a song that addresses men’s mental health issues also highlighting Hushtones’ staple vocal harmonies.

10th Annual Winter Arts Market

This year’s Winter Arts Market returns on Saturday 1 December, offering shoppers the chance to buy handmade artworks, crafts and design gifts in the lead up to Christmas.

Over 200 independent artists, designers and makers will transform Liverpool Cathedral into a bustling market displaying thousands of colourful creations alongside an artisan food fair and vintage fair.

2018 marks the 10th anniversary of this special event, which will feature stalls from over 200 artists, designers, makers, crafters, food producers, clothing designers and vintage sellers.

The Last Waltz reveals special guests for November show at the Philharmonic

The special guests have now been announced for what is certain to be a spectacular night celebrating one of the most influential evenings in music history. After two years of sell out shows in the Philharmonic’s Music Room, ‘Seafoam Green’s Last Waltz’ returns - this time descending on the iconic Philharmonic Hall - on Friday 16th November.

Guests include, Phil Campbell, vocalist from Scottish blues-rockers The Temperance Movement, Liverpool-based singer songwriter Nick Ellis,  Xander & The Peace Pirates, Dan Wilson and Robert Vincent.

Music Central Open Mic Sessions

A new weekly Open Mic Night will provide a platform for local musicians and performers in the unique settings of the Albert Dock basements, and every performer can walk away with their own live recording of their performance.

Liverpool Comedy Central on the Royal Albert Dock will host this new weekly social for musicians and performers. The iconic basement venue, famous for introducing new and exciting comic talent, is to be the new setting for performers to see and be seen, showcase new material and perfect their craft.

Renowned as an Indian musician of the highest order, Ameen Ali Khan is a sarod artist celebrated across the continents. In this extraordinary performance, he brings his signature vibrant style to the stage alongside percussion master, Kousic Sen.

Ameen Ali Khan belongs to the seventh generation of a musical family. His passionate and moving playing is known for its aesthetic purity and tradition. He has toured extensively across India and beyond, delighting audiences with his unique virtuosity. Ameen's mastery of the sarod, one of the most popular instruments from the Hindustani tradition of classical Indian music, has received international praise, with the Hindustani Times calling him "the most promising Sarod player in the country".

Joining Ameen is tabla maestro and Music for the Mind and Soul favourite,Kousic Sen. The deep, introspective sound of the sarod is given a unique percussive heartbeat from this master drummer from Kolkata, who never fails to lift performance experiences to new heights.
