Dear Jefferson County Dems ~
On this day after the General Election in Wisconsin, I was hoping to reflect on a job well done, proud to have helped mobilize a successful statewide mail-in election despite a pandemic, and simply awaiting the election results.
Instead, we are recovering from a whiplash of on/off/on mandates for which Gov. Evers is unfairly taking the heat. Our news feeds are filled with images of voters in facemasks and long lines at crowded polling places. There were too few workers and yet TOO MANY, as no one should have been called to serve during the height of the COVID-19 Stay at Home global health crisis.
THANK YOU to all who worked so hard on this election – making phone calls and sending texts, working at the polls to assist voters, staying in tune with fast-changing mandates and helping your neighborhoods indeed vote.
As Ben Wikler said in a message this morning -- The election results will be available next week. But we will never know the results of contamination spread caused by the GOP insistence on keeping the polls open.
We are all invited to participate in a statewide virtual meeting this Thursday night at 7:00 PM, hosted by Ben Wikler, to talk about what just happened. You may register here. https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJYpfuisqTgo65DdVmAzKvUHzJ-w3cxm1A
The GOP own this one. Not just the majority Legislative leadership in Wisconsin, but at the national party level. Their determination to defeat our Governor has plenty of fuel and steam, well beyond the Capitol.
Gov. Evers is effectively caged in. Until we win back the Assembly and the Senate, we will not see action on the progressive agenda we all so treasure.
We are the difference makers for the Wisconsin we want to live in.
