Call for chapters: banking on the unbanked


IIED has issued a call for chapters for a new book on how to improve access to financial services for millions of poor people around the world.

Spotlight on...Communities and Carbon Offsets Survey
IIED, the University of Edinburgh and the Plan Vivo Foundation are conducting a study to try to understand what motivates individuals and companies to buy carbon offsets in voluntary markets.  In particular, we want to understand how monitoring strategies in smallholder and community projects affect buyers’ decisions.

Please take our survey, it takes about 10-15 minutes to complete and all information will be anonymous and confidential.

Following the money: an advocate’s guide to securing accountability for agricultural investments, is a guide for organisations and individuals working to support communities whose land rights, lives and livelihoods have been negatively impacted by agricultural investments.

Informed by experiences and lessons learned from activists and practitioners throughout the world, it provides guidance on strategies for holding the actors involved in agricultural investments accountable for human rights violations and all sorts of malpractices.

 
Can urban regenerate improve health resilience in a changing climate?
By comparing two Indonesian cities, Semarang and Pekalongan, this study assesses the extent to which urban regeneration can be considered a climate change adaptation option. It also explores the potential challenges and outcomes in using urban regeneration as an adaptation strategy for enhancing health resilience, such as through improved housing and sanitation, at the city level.
