REDD+ strives to be equitable, but often focuses on only part of the picture, so that even apparently-strong strategies may be less equitable on closer inspection. Our new briefing paper, Applying three dimensions of equity to REDD+ highlights that achieving greater equity in REDD+ needs attention to three dimensions: recognition (of rights, knowledge and institutions), procedure (inclusive decision-making) and distribution (of benefits and costs).
