Community Character Workshops

JOIN US: 4 workshops throughout Austin in January

Happy Holidays from the CodeNEXT team! Starting January 15, CodeNEXT will begin the next phase of community input—Understanding Community Character.

CodeNEXT is an unprecedented opportunity for Austinites to shape the way we live now and for generations to come. To be effective in framing how land can be used throughout the city, a revised Land Development Code should consider the unique character found in different types of neighborhoods throughout Austin. That’s where you come in.

We’re inviting you to walk your own neighborhood and document the features that make it unique. What do homes in your community look like? Your streets? Businesses nearby? Anyone can do it and we'll show you how!
Mark you calendars and join us for these exciting Community Character Workshops!

More ways to get involved:

  • Ever applied for a permit from the City? We are collecting case studies – real-life examples from folks who have requested a permit or permission for a development project from the City of Austin. Your experience will help us understand key issues with the Land Development Code and its processes.
  • Become a CodeNEXT Ambassador! Ambassadors volunteer to help the CodeNEXT team cultivate participation and leadership activities in traditionally underrepresented communities in Austin. Download details about the Ambassador program here. And contact us if you'd like to serve as an Ambassador.
