Morning <<First Name>>,

Be prepared to take the streets today - or to the phones - either way it appears Trump will sign an Executive Order endorsing discrimination - allowing religious groups (and anyone claiming them) to refuse to serve LGBT people.

He did not announce it at the National Prayer Breakfast - but he said some other shocking things - including removing the Johnson Amendment which would allow religious, tax-exempt organizations endorse political candidates.

Be vigilant!

Trump Claims to be pro-gay
While Trump's EO detailed an Iranian after the gay cruise in Miami. The Senate confirmed (super anti-LGBT) Tillerson. ED nominee Betsy DeVos may eek out with VP Pence as the swing vote (which has never happened before). Sessions might be opposed but Senators could face wrath of NRA.
Next Tuesday I'm going to SF through Saturday, Feb 11 where I'll hold an Thursday happy hour at Hi Tops. Then a quick trip to New Orleans - the week after I'm considering attending the Midwest Bisexual, Lesbian, Gay, Transgender and Ally College Conference in Chicago but then volunteering at Winter Party in Miami!
Ashton takes on Ptown
Planning Ptown for this summer? Part 2 of my blog is up (with a video!) - but make sure to read Part 1 first. Explore my adventures in the queerest gaycation you can take in the US.  Be in touch if you need a centrally located spot this summer!

A court in Lebanon ruled that homosexuality should not be a criminal offense, possibly paving the way for decriminalization.

US Education policy will likely turn even more evangelical and anti-LGBT as Trump named Jerry Falwell to lead an education task force. At least the Boy Scouts will now admit transgender (male) youth!

Marriage equality has not fully affected all parts of LGBT life - Indiana will appeal a ruling that both parents of same-sex couples be listed on birth certificates.

In (surprisingly?) a first dealing with gay defendants, a Miami court convicted 2 Hungarians of keeping 3 others as sex slaves in a home in the Miami-Dade area.

  Travel

Mumbai held India's largest LGBTIQ pride event last Sunday, where at least 10,000 people marched.

If you're looking for LGBTIQ travel advice - and (basic) travel safety tips, the New York Times authored 2 articles, one with citing specific people and examples and another with bullet-pointed thoughts on safety from the king of gay luxury travel, David Rubin.

RESIST NYC. Join nearly every NYC LGBT organization at Stonewall on Saturday at 2pm - or possibly today if this EO is signed.

SF. Join me at Hi Tops on Thursday, February 9th to learn about the latest in global LGBTIQ rights and work done by OutRight Action International.
