Clarification: Last week's news brief was not intended to glorify colonization or to associate it with any current world conflicts. The reference to colonization referred to pride in Phuket which unfortunately does not represent the culture of Thailand in any way; it only caters to western, white tourists - although it's true it's still pride and many there may appreciate it. The reference was intended to poke fun and encourage readers to avoid it, but I failed to communicate that effectively. I apologize to anyone that was offended.
