It is with great pleasure, and thanks to the ongoing support of J.P.Morgan Private Bank of our Annual Conference, as well as the generous support of Ms. Meg Allen, a long standing member of Giving Women and the Tamari Foundation, that we invite you to the 6th Annual Giving Women Conference.

The purpose of this years conference is to identify the complex issues facing girls and women migrants, be they refugees fleeing horrific conflicts or environmental catastrophes, women leaving their rural villages to find work in the cities, girls and women living in refugee camps. or families trying to recreate lives in new homelands and to spotlight some of the successful solutions which allow these women to be agents of their own change and catalysts for a better life for themselves, their families and their communities.

An illustrious group of expert speakers will identify the challenges faced by these girls and women and highlight the solutions to improve the fractured system that fails many migrants today.

Bela Hovy summarised some of the complex issues facing girl and women migrants in Migration Information Source:

"For a variety of reasons, women and girls are facing special risks. In broad terms, women are often responsible for shouldering a great deal of the responsibility for their family's continued survival, a burden that is heavier for refugee women. Beyond this, sexual abuse and gender-based violence, including domestic violence, are continuing concerns. Still another concern has been access to quality healthcare, including reproductive health care that acknowledges the risk of HIV/AIDs and other sexually transmitted diseases. For girls, too, lack of education can further exacerbate these other forms of vulnerability."
