Over the past few months, our weekly discussion group has been meeting together for prayer, a potluck meal and engaging discussion on a variety of topics pertaining to the teachings of our Holy Orthodox Faith. We have learned about and discussed important topics such as the purpose of life, the problem with our distracted minds and how to overcome it, the nature of the soul and what happens after we die.
Our new topic beginning this evening is something that constantly came up as the primary solution for all our troubles, for making progress in the spiritual life, for growing in our closeness to God, for overcoming sinful habits, for keep ourselves on the path to purity and sanctification. And that solution is the Jesus Prayer.
Join us this evening with the Akathist to our Lord Jesus Christ beginning at 5:00pm followed by a light meal and around 6:30pm our new discussion topic: The Jesus Prayer.
